Somebody To Love

This album sits between A Night At The Opera (1975) with bangers like “You’re My Best Friend” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” and News of the World (1977) with the classic “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions”.

On A Day At The Races (1976) we got the super-hits “Somebody To Love” and “Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy”. Talk about being on a roll… It was also the first Queen record I bought.

A vector drawing of the album cover for Queen's "A Day at the Races" from 1976. One red and one grey lion, both wearing crowns, are holding a big, ornamented light blue letter Q between them. In the middle of the Q, a royal crown is placed. One fairy in pink sits in the grass to the left while another fairy in blue is watching her. Behind the Q, a red crab is engulfed in flames and a white'ish bird is spreading their wings over the top. The background is black, but with a blue/yellow motif behind the characters signifying a rising sun on a summer morning. Band name and album title set in "Parfum" typeface below the design.
Well, there’s a lot going on here…

This turned out to be one of the most complex designs I have done since ELO’s “Out of the Blue” cover. So many small details. Now, let’s see if I can realise this idea I have for animating it, as all the creatures are now individual layers / objects… No need for staying tuned, I’ll post when it’s done.
